After collection the filter paper is removed from the litterbags and oven dried in paper bags at 50oC for 24 hours or longer to ensure the mass (DW) is constant. Any soil particles, mosses, lichens, fine roots, or other plant parts that have grown into the bags should be removed prior to weighing.
