How to use the latin name Collembola (springtails) and its declensions:

Collembola (Latin) pluralis (only!); always initial capital (first letter upper case) for Latin family names. "Taxonomically Collembola are wingless, primitive Hexapoda"

Collembolan (English) singularis; adjective and noun; "a collembolan"; "the collembolan F. fimetaria", "The collembolan role in nutrient turnover", "The collembolan jumping organ..."

"collembolan" is lower case, because capitalisations are for Latin only, and "collembolan" is an English word.

Collembolans (English) pluralis; noun; "some collembolans are found in caves"

"Collembolas" should be avoided. It is is an unnecessary form because we have the above Collembola and collembolans. If used it should be spelled with small initial letter because it is not a latin noun, but an English derivative.
